Before You Choose
Which Procedure Does What
These operations are often confused with one another, and the distinction matters when you are deciding what to ask about.
- A facelift improves the face from the upper cheeks down — the jawline, the jowls, and the contour beneath the chin.
- It does not raise the eyebrows. That is a brow lift, and it is a separate operation.
- The eyes are addressed with blepharoplasty — eyelid contouring — not with a facelift.
- Procedures are frequently combined. Brow lifts and eyelid lifts are often performed alongside a facelift; ear or nasal surgery sometimes.
- Total anesthesia time is a real constraint. Dr. Stephenson rarely adds breast or body liposuction to a facial procedure for that reason.
